I recently made a 3 part mixtape of all my favorite Piero Piccioni tracks just for myself so I thought I'd share it. It consists of his vinyl, CD and digital releases. If your'e only familiar with his sought after vinyl releases I think you'll be stoked on his other material as it is just as good if not better. Hope to get back to posting other stuff soon at some point but I'm a family man now so hope you enjoy this for now. Cheers, Chris
Here is a record that I personally never thought I would get a chance to hear let alone own it, Rino De Filippi's elusive "Aspetti Di Vita All'Aperto" on Ayna! I don't get around to sharing much anymore but to celebrate the birth of my son this week, I wanted to share this beauty as I know there are quite a few Filippi fans out there that would love to hear it. If you have this in your wantlist then you quite well know it is very impossible to find. Most of the Ayna releases I had heard so far were very Avant style records and actually many reissued by Cinedelic Records recently. I assumed that this record was probably more of the same but to my surprise it is very melodic, orchestral and Filippi! My favorite Filippi is his more melancholic, psych lounge style and if you like that too than you will appreciate this record, as it would be a shame for it to go unheard any longer. Literally from start to finish you will hear all the ingredients that make a great Filippi record, I definitely was floored when I first heard it. Songs like "Un Altro Giorno" "Soave Presenza" "Gemme In Fiore" & "Visioni D'Incanto" send me into complete bliss! The only thing I wish is that "Verdi Radure" was compressed a little better with louder drums as that is the standout track to me but hey you can't have everything. Please sit down with a nice chill mindset and let these sounds wash over you, I know that's what me and my newborn son have been doing!!! Hope you all have a great week and Cheers! Chris

Happy New Year! It's been a minute but I've been listening to this Sorgini masterpiece a bunch and thought I'd share it. It's alot different than some of his earlier work but it has that perfect early 80's Italian Library sound full of close mic'd and clear funky greatness mixed some very beautiful chill jams. When I first got into library stuff, obviously Giuliano Sorgini was one of the first clear leaders in the genre with his Zoo Folle and Under Pompelmo record being the top of the records to hear. This one wasn't even really talked about, maybe because of it's obscurity but it I think it's my favorite of his at this point when only referring to the records where he is the sole contributer. The mystery behind Usignolo contributed to the fascination with this record as well once I became aware of it's existence. There are a bunch of records with this same cover (Postal Area Group, Rock Music, The Yellow Page, Disco Music, Band's Harmony, as well as a couple others) This being the best of the bunch even though there are great jams on those records as well.
As for the music well it starts with the most hip hop ready library sample track I've ever heard,"Ingranaggi Pesanti" I'm not a Hip Hop guy but it's unreal how ahead of the time this track is. " Cadenza Dinamica" "Ciclo Continuo" and "Turbine In Moto" are dark proggy funky gems that I just can't get enough of. Every hit is so clear and dope, the occasional shreddy guitar solo gets me in that cheesy air guitar mode for sure.
I was lucky to find this a couple years ago and it seems that Sorgini might have signed the back cover as well. I hope some of you can find one as well but here is my 320K rip to tide you over. Enjoy MY RIP
I Got a few requests for a full rip of this record so here you go!

Here is one very special record by Oscar Lindok AKA Giacomo Dell'Orso and husband to iconic singer Edda Dell'Orso. Absolutely top notch, next level shit, from prog to spaced out bossa to dark side of the moon stretchings. Record starts off with "Immagini E Colori" a proggy gem for sure, shifts between acoustic guitar and rockin organ parts. "Spensieratamente" might be the best song here with it's signature Lindok synths over a bossa beat that is just absolutely amazing. "Storia A Lieto Fine" is a beautiful and melodic funk jam, reminding of a glorious drive with no traffic. "Verso Il Domani" I just love, like a futuristic 50's pop song with amazing synth lines, yet I can see how someone might take it as cheesy, but it just hits me perfectly. "Terra Amara" has no drums but no problem making an impact. It has a similar style to those classic Dark Side Of The Moon songs I love so much. "Senza Problemi" is an amazing proggy tribal jam with tape echo for days! Bottom line if you are a fan of this man, this one is essential and if you know Aris Librarys or Soundtracks (Lingua D' Argento, Calamo) it is mega rare and rarely comes up for sale. GET IT HERE!

Hello and happy new year! I'm back from my Hiatus with a seldom heard or seen Rino De Filippi record, "Tema Amore" on the Nazionalmusic label best known for their Supermakert series and the Zelda 45 by Marcello Giombini. This is the early Filippi style from 1972 so there aren't any synth or fuzz sounds but mainly a laidback beautiful landscape of wordless vocal, organ, acoustic guitar, drums, bass and harpsichord. Melody is the driving force behind the songs even though Filippi's signature rhythm patterns are there as well, favorites for me have to be "Romantico Viale" with it's minor harpsichord intro straight into absolute beautiful chord structure. Also "Giovane Amore" that takes you all over the place, as soon as you think you know where it's going, a killer chord steps in and sends you a different direction. These recordings sound super raw but absoulutely high fidelity and could easily imagine them being recorded in a day or two but at the same time so much mastery is here it would take most groups 10 times longer to achieve. Anyways it took me a very long time to even hear this record and I hope it gives at least some of you some joy! As always My Rip From My Collection at 320K. GET IT HERE!
Honestly I'd never heard anything about this record until I heard a clip on the excellent Boxes of Toys bog. I luckily was able to track down a copy and surprisingly it's from my hometown of Los Angeles, well Hollywood to be exact. I still wonder if there's any of these floating around some Hollywood thrift store or something, haha. It seems to be super obscure, no discogs info and just one lonely copy on ebay for some insane price. So it doesn't just drift into unheard obscurity I decided to share a rip.
The only other records I have from Charles Bernstein are some "Nightmare On Elm Street" soundtracks which are obviously recorded much later than this one, which he recorded under the name, I'm Going To Set Myself On Fire, which is just awesome. The record came out on some label called MVC, which I think might be the first and maybe only release from this private press company. Mostly what we get is incredibly funky and soulful jams with vocal and instrumental versions. The standout is definitely, "Raceway" which just sucked me in right away, what he accomplishes in 2 minutes is astounding. Great songwriting and killer breaks if that's what you are into. Usually vocals are a turn off for me but I really dig, "White Salt" and if you don't like them, well hey there's an instrumental version too, yay! "Here We Are" is really great as well and there's many other moments that are completely jam worthy. So check it out and I hope y'all can find copys at some point, everything pops up eventually!
Just VPI'd this record and re ripped it, thought I would share it in full this time! Just one of my favorite records to listen to by Marcabru an alias for Luig De Filippi, son of Rino De Filippi. This one is credited to Luigi solely on SIAE database but most likely done with his father Rino from the sounds of it. You really can listen to this from start to finish and oh god let me tell you it is rare and pretty impossible to find. It has that proggy jazz feel that the Filippis utilize on most of their beat driven records like the wildcat and pound release. First we start with the title track "Daybreak" just amazing and beautiful mid tempo awesomeness, crazy melodys abound. Next we get, "Gleaming" with that up tempo jazz funk sound ever so popular in the mid late 70's, with just the right amount of synth coming in half way through. "Hermitage" comes off right away sounding like a sophisticated yes. Next we get the banger "Fancy" just perfection, cray bassline and sax solo with that flat and perfect Filippi drum sound, AHHH, so good! "Consortship" sounds like Filippi totally going for a yes melody and one of the most Filippi sounding songs on the record, totally essential good vibes. Then the B side, man if you thought the A side was dope the B side is even better. "Racer" is unbelievable melodic and proggy. "Glide" is golden funk" "Afield" is back to that melodic Filippi good vibes style. "Loose" is by far my favorite jam on here, and perhaps top 5 Filippi jams, that crazy technical jazzy piano riff and the insane drumming, whoah. Last song of note is, "Meek" the most chilled out and stony jam on here, shit, what were they smoking in Italy back then, damn?! Just VPI'd this record and re ripped it, thought I would share it in full this time! Enjoy GET IT HERE!
Incredible record from Enzo Scoppa with arrangement by his usual partner Cicci Santucci. This record was recorded at the famous Sound Work Shop and the tones are just top notch Italian. Another cool thing I've found with this record is while certain tracks like, "Pulegge" and "Meccanicismo" might be the tracks I gravitate towards. many other people lean towards the more experimental tracks here, so yeah a little something for everyone I guess. It's really amazing to hear these guys who maybe came from a more jazz background step outside their comfort zone and pull off these more gnarly soundscapes, truly daring dudes! So whether you dig heavy psych guitar noodling with your high hats open, or evil percussion seance jams, Lavoro is a nice place to explore! MY RIP @320K

Bruno Zambrini wasn't messing around when he composed this shit, start to finish this record is mindblowing, I still haven't come close to taking in all the sounds it has to offer. Other big ocean themed soundtrack and librarys include Fabio Fabor's "Aquarium" on Hard, Armando Sciascia's "Sea Fantasy" on Vedette and the legendary "Inner Space" by Sven Libaek as well as a phenomenal mix by Marcellus Wallace called "Our Beautiful World" where he highlights his favorite sounds from this genre as well, jam it here . This record is one of, if not the best one in my snobby opinion.
First off many people will be most impressed by the insanely badass, "Beat Psichedelico" which I must say is goddamn impressive! To me, this song hits me the same way that Osanna's "Preludio" hits, epic as hell psych featuring heavy beats, orchestration and psych freekouts! The part changes are just incredible throughout. Other dark groove oriented jams, are "Recupero Impossible" and "Dramma A Quota 23" The Bossa style jams, which there are many, are just so crisp and beautiful. The self titled theme is full of Alessandroni styled scat vox, killer organ stabs and honestly the chord changes and patterns remind me of his beautiful styling. "Estasi Sul Mare" uses melody and instrumentation so perfectly. "Giochi Sul Mare" and "Crociera Verso Il Sud" reminds me of something Rino De Filippi would come up with on his best day. There are also a couple Experimental jams with the reverb wonderland of, Foreste Di Corallo and "Ebrezza Dei Fondali" which my dogs hate.
So yeah I think it's good, haha. Enjoy My Rip @ 320K Chris Tillotson GET IT HERE!
So yeah, if you have some free time. Ethan Hull and me did a live dual DJ set on the second Friday of July at Rendezvous in Los Angeles. Birthdays were had, whiskey was drank and a small bit of Ethan's epic secret stash was played. Very Very SPecial record by the Maestro, you just can't mess with this one. I would guess if you don't have patience for this kind of beauty, you would describe as mostly boring lounge music with 2 decent bangers, for everyone else that gets it, sOme of the most beautiful, inspired and otherworldly things I've ever heard. Obviously "Beach Party" & "Desert Inn" are completely insane, yet underrated songs like, "Oceano" & "Love On The Sand" are truly top notch as well as pretty much everything else here, haha. Of course you have the perfect chill funk beats more focused on snare to kick patterns than roll central, the Italian harps

ichord and the questionable choice for harmonica throughout majority. Honestly this record more than any other got me used to the harmonica sound besides those essential spaghetti western scores which is another thing. Just do yourself a favor and don't skip through this one like the ADD world we've become and soak in the crazy shit this man laid down over 40 years ago, or don't, whatever, haha. Good god this is heavy. Definitely all about the B side, "Cobra Sound" Right off the bat, those drums, heavy compression and phasing I'm guessing. The song progresses into an incredibly melodic middle section. It's just one of those fun songs I can listen to over and over. Not to leave out the A side "Il GrandeTentatore" While kinda harsh on the ears, the track is very psychedelic and fun with lots of studio trickery and dope guitar shredding. I believe this an advertisement record realeased to promote Italian Jeans company, Cobra Jeans in probably the 70's. Enjoy @320K my rip. GET IT HERE! Chris Tillotson
Personal Top 5!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the best Italian Library's and best Panda records ever to me, beautiful, beat driven, melodic and above all, heavily inspired. No it's not a Belle & Sebastian record but the mighty, Tempo Libero. Many of the songs here are alternate versions of the best songs from Sorgini's, "Scappo Per Cantare" on Fama, laying a bit lower or absent on the scat vocals found on Scappo. The strange thing is songs credited here to Alessandroni are only credited to Sorgini on Scappo but you understand the strangeness of Italian library crediting by now, haha. The collaboration between these two is incredibly top notch and beautiful, seeing that when they usually get together, it's pretty insane experimental stuff. As Scappo is dated at 1971 I would assume this one is the same, yet no date on this Panda release. Tempo Libero translates to "Free Time" and that's exactly what you won't have if you spent as much time recording and mastering music as these legendary dudes. Ultimate record listen.
This record is pretty impossible to find so, check the soundclips and I do offer my rip as a full download , enjoy! Chris Tillotson
So I know this cover is screaming late 80's but it's actually instrumental, late 70's amazing jazz, funk, prog. A few of the songs I swear could be Rino or Luigi De Filippi behind them, namely, "Lights Of Chinatown" & "Bentler Song". Besides, "Lights Of Chinatown" side B is where it's at here, totally killer grooves and entertaining prog outings. "Bentler Song" in particular really stands out to me, the moment around 1:35 where those girl vox come in, so amazing!
This record is also released as The Volvo Dynamics which is very easily obtained for nice friendly prices currently. This version on Bentler is pretty unknown and extremely rare, so enjoy my rip at 320K. Chris Tillotson GET IT HERE!
Krossfingers asked me to compile a list of my top 5 records. As impossible that list is I tried my best, because as always, I take everything too serious, so if you care to know what I think are my top 5 records I own are and of course they are almost all Italian library except for one Italian soundtrack, then head over and check it, obviously check the other entry's as well, especially my man Scott's (Spaziale) entry. Special thanks to my beautiful wife, Cristina for taking pics! Chris's Top 5 Scott's Top 5 Cheers, Chris TillotsonChris Tillotsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15984147197100946518noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3429128344568245642.post-36912713275926098392015-04-14T19:54:00.000-07:002015-04-14T23:03:33.609-07:00Jacky Giordano - "Timing N.1" - Timing - 197? French Library masterpiece! MY RIP @320K

This record is no stranger to many library collectors or just collectors in to big ass beats. The whole side A is just killer! "Cite" is a monster, with that classic Giordano sound, essential! "Tablasse" is perfect, every element dialing in that perfect french funk sound. "Jumba" takes the "Tablasse" riff and speeds it up into a much longer jam out sesh full of jazz wanderings. "Motion" eventually works its way into undeniable funky territory full of wah wahs and jazzy trumpets. "Alti" might be the most melodic jam here, even if it's a strange melody, haha, and incredibly funky and driving it is.
Unfortunately the first 4 songs on side B by Stephane Grappelli & Francis Personne are pretty boring jams that have nothing to do with the vibe on sibe A, which if this were different, this record would be absolutely perfect, oh well, no need to nit pick, just move on to "Cool" a pretty playful funky vibe and "Orient Express" which mixes up the time signature to give an off kilter and stony jazz funk feel.
I said before that Timing 6 was my favorite Timing record and that is still true but that's only because I choose great melody and song structure over great big beats every time but this record is a god damn monster and a very close second in my book and definitely the hardest Timing to put your hands on, took me a bit at least.
As the previous rip that was floating around was in mono (many computer rip software defaults to mono for some reason,) this is a nice upgrade for many I'm hoping. Ripped from my personal collection @320K stereo enjoy! Chris Tillotson GET IT HERE!
Quite amazing Usignolo here by Palmino Pia who before this record was completely unknown to me. The record is dated 1983 but doesn't really have any of the bothersome cheesy sounds you might expect from an 80's library aside from some slap bass and such, which actually sounds super dope here. Side A starts out with the disco funk "Apricot Day" a very Italian Scat vocal outing. Things get stony and mellow with "South Coast" what an amazing opening scat vocal with those chord changes, damn. Full orchestra and brass accompany the rest of this beautiful song. A couple more nice easy bossa, jazz songs fill out the remainder of side A. Then the heat turns up on side B, "Atmos" is one of the best funky disco jams I've heard in a while. Killer beat and melody right from the start. The scat vocals here are extremely in your face, very dry and animated. My favorite part is when the flute breaks come around, turning it into a Womens Colours type sound, incredible. "Karma" is a nice prog disco jam with a few different movements escalating into dope scat melodies. "Easy Disco" is pretty cheesy disco but still a nice listen full of guitar solos and orchestra.
After doing a quick google search on Mr. Pia I found this sight with a brief history of his work, check it out HERE
If you are familiar with these Usignolo records then you know how confusing and lengthy the catalog is. This one is part of the UST 100 series which starts in the 70's and rolls into the 80's, Some of the best Usignolos were recorded in this series like the Claudio Valle, Bembo, and the Giuliano Sogni one. As more of these records are becoming more aware to the public, Usignolo Fonit is becoming one of the most mysterious and sought after Italian label there is. While there are plenty of uninteresting records found throughout the catalog, the amount of heat pouring out of this label is quite staggering. MP3 Trades Accepted Enjoy the soundclips ripped from my personal collection Chris Tillotson
Alright here we have the new record from my man Heru Avenger (John Basil) and friends. Holy shit this thing is a beast as implied, haha. Side A consists of 3 songs full of funky free jazz and Kosmiche exploration. First off we are offered "Terra" kicking off with heavy beats, african percussions, and vocal slurps and burps. Throughout we have brass and keys soloing and feeling the vibes from the inspirational bass licks of Mr. Basil. "Ascend" kicks off with some nice jazz funk jamming propelled by drummer, Erik Jiru. The phased out trumpets are just god damned amazing as well as sax wailing its way to Saturn. "Suspension" gives us that stoned out loungy free jazz feel for the first 3 minutes but then disperses into outer space delays and vocal scats, unbelievable. In true free jazz fashion the entire side B is covered by the title track, "Dimension" which is a bit of all the above and above all just a highly talented band exploring each other in funky jazzy bliss. The lineup for this amazing record includes, R.Scott on Keyboards, John Basil on Bass, Erik Jiru on Drums,Dave Williams on Trumpet, Palo on Sax, Chris Moore,Chris Lovejoy and Brendan Dunn on Percussion and Kristina Benson on Voices.
Mr. Basil has been killing it not only in music but also is a veteren (30 plus years) record collector of library, soundtrack, jazz, funk, psych, you name it and trust me he has one of the most insane collections I have ever seen in person. He's a bit of a local legend around these parts and also kindly lends DJ skills to Rendezvous where our paths crossed. He has plenty of other recordings which will get a deserved proper vinyl reissue soon, where he experiments with electro pop and jazz as well as an unreleased funk record from 1991 by the band SOL. It would be quite difficult to meet another dude as unique as John and it is quite obvious he puts his heart and soul into his music so please feel free to buy and support Baast music. You can buy the vinyl record from Ubiquity HERE or buy MP3 for 7.99 HERE You won't be sorry!
Yes sir, here is one of the most sought after Music Scene releases and for good reason. Side A is where it's at with this one. Discogs lists Shobeki as an alias for Gigante which is strange that he would use his name and alias on the same record but I honestly haven't looked to verify. Anyway the whole side A is by Shobeki/Gigante and it starts off with "Road To Frisco" a nice pupmped up jazzy big band accompaniment. The real treat is "Lazy Night Man" which is an alternate version of Frisco but much more to my taste, slowed down to a stony speed with amazing synth over, love it. "Native Land" is ultimate Libaek/Kirchin style exploration with a nice fat soothing synth line accompaniment. "Waltzing Car" is another hit with its pumped up drums and dope synth. Unfortunately for me the whole side B is generic big band stuff, played well no doubt but not unique to my ears. I want my library music to not sound like library music, you know what I mean. So check the couple jams I'm sharing ripped from my collection and MP3 TRADES accepted as always.Chris Tillotson
This is one very amazing record from the Italian Library label, Devega. From start to finish it is astonishing, along with Giulio Libano there are also songs by D.Haensch,Vanerden, Rino De Filippi, Fabio Fabor & Ipress. Modern Sound Quartet member Massimo Verardi adds lead guitar to most of the tracks creating a nice cohesiveness to the entire thing. Also the Alessandroni type scat vocals bring everything together as well.
While Side A is truly great with songs like Libano's, "Mach 48" and Filippi's "Sensazioni Primaverili", I feel side B is the best play through for me. "Jai Alai" by Haensch,Vanerden is one of the dopest jams I've heard in a while, perfect chords, beats and guitar tone. "Mandoleggiando" by Fabio Fabor has a killer psych guitar solo, gave me chills for sure! Luckily you can buy this digitally from Itunes or Amazon for only $5.99 as well as other Devega records like the very sought after Joy Unlimited record as the Devega label has made them available for purchase. I believe they call it Mach 48 on the digital release, so hope you can find it from google search. Check the soundclips ripped from my own collection. Chris
So hopefully you are familiar with David Nerattini (Little Tony Negri in the blog world) Well if you don't know he is also an incredible musician and drummer in modern band La Batteria along with Emanuele Bultrini (Guitars) Paolo Pecorelli (Bass) Stefano Vicarelli (Hammond C3,Clavinet,Fender Rhodes, Clavicamebalo, Celesta, Piano, Mellotron, Mini Moog, Prophet 5) and this is their new release on Penny Records. When he sent me this I was quite blown away, I mean I mostly care about old classic library and soundtrack records but this record is that good, that it deserves our attention. They claim influences by the great composers of the 70's, Ennio Morricone, Stelvio Cipriani, Alessandro Alessandroni, Bruno Nicolai, Goblin & I Marc 4, and I would have to agree with that. The record was initially intended as a Library record for Romano Di Bari on his Flipper Music label and mastered in historical Telecinesound Studios, property of Maurizio Majorana, bass player of I Marc 4.
The recording to me is pretty modern sounding, think Calibro 35 as far as recording quality goes, but the style is very retro and true to the Italian librarys of the 70's & 80's. The record starts with "Chimera" a beautiful acoustic guitar and harpsichord intro that falls into heavy compressed hip hop beats with super italian harmonies over the top. THis is followed by, "Vigilate" and "Scenario" dope poliziotteschi style jams with heavy beats and wah fuzz guitar. Next they take a step towards electro with, "Formula" which sounds like it would fit any number of Italian horror movies. "Manifesto" is a complete rocker full of female scat vocals and heavy riffs, "Dilemma" is a proggy Italian monster. "Incognito" even has a De Roubaix meets poliziotteschi style. THe album closes with "Persona Non Grata" a nice resemblance to Cipriani classics for sure with its repeating harpsichord and heavy beats.
La Batteria will be released on CD & LP & Digital in Feburary 2015, European countries can buy it Here
What a nice surprise with this one, I wrote it off cause of the cheesy title and because I don't like to dance, haha. Boy was I wrong, while the majority of the A side is crap, side B is full of Cipriani gold. Pretty much all the Cipriani stuff from the later CAM's is golden, like "A Wide Range Of Colours" "Rhythmical Movement Vol.1 & 2". First let me talk about the non Cipriani tracks, A6 "First Family" by Maestosi & Trecca is just amazing beautiful melodic and beat driven, love it. A7 by Patucchi is a really vibey lounge track. B6 by Rustichelli is a great spaced out bossa track. Now to the Cipriani stuff, B1 is spaced out lounge at its finest, B3 is a great bossa track led by piano. Next are the 2 best songs, B4 "Green Eyed Woman" is a perfect porno funky jam not to be messed with. Also my favorite "B5 Private Lessons" spaced out disco funk perfectly suitable for porno music. Totally untouchable, those chord changes give me chills every time, just listen to that punchy stabbing rhythm guitar. Soundclips ripped from my personal collection and MP3 Trades accepted. Chris Tillotson
This record is crazy good. Obviously if you disregard any 80's library even early 80's as not your thing, then this one won't be the one, haha. When listening though I don't ever get a cheesy 80's vibe and actually might be the funnest Fallabrino to listen to I can recall. When I saw the cheap price tag I thought gap filler but no way, this is a mixture of high class jazz, funk, disco and prog, my favorite genres. Every song is entertaining and interesting for sure, it's not often you hear a band change styles from song to song like this.
My two favorite jams on this are A5 "Insegne Luminose" one of the finest prog disco songs I've ever heard, has all the goods, female scats, fuzz, driving beats and dark bass lines. This song is followed by A6 "Autodromo" which at times reminds me of King Zerand scoring the Cannibal Apocalypse OST. Other notable jams are, "Leitmotiv N.1" and "Passeggiando" but really they are all amazing.
This one's on the same label as Fallabrino's "Musica Nella Spazio" which sells for mega bucks so don't assume it will remain cheap, every library record started off cheap don't forget, but who knows maybe I just have bad taste, haha. My Full 320K rip from my collection and please behave yourselves and don't leach my rip or youtube links as your own, though I know some of you still will, haha. GET IT HERE Chris Tillotson
This one's not even on discogs yet! Check out a couple songs and MP3 Trades accepted as always.
